MCDP-1 is a stunning treatise on war, risk taking, and decision-making. many similarities to company building. highly recommended https://www.marines.mil/Portals/1/Publications/MCDP%201%20Warfighting.pdf

I find it concerning when people compare the process of building a company to the destructiveness of war. To me, war involves unimaginable loss and human suffering, while business—at its best—is about creating value, solving problems, and improving lives. The two operate on entirely different moral and human planes, and I think we lose something important when we blur that line.

would be curious if you still feel the same after reading it. agreed they're fundamentally different things, but there are many parallels

Will give it a read when I get a minute and see—always open to this kind of stuff. I do wonder though if books like Art of War (not sure if this one’s in that category) are more suited for super competitive, entrenched markets—like top-of-the-food-chain players going head to head. Curious how much of it really applies to greenfield stuff. I feel like as your business evolves, there’s definitely a shift—from scrappy startup mode to more of a shark strategist trying to outmaneuver competition.
