Just thinking. Why would you need your own protocol? What's the advantage of owning it?

because its the only place in the stack to differentiate, with a reasonably defensible moat once proven successful, whatever you do with product can (and will) be easily copied by someone with more distribution easy to fork a protocol, much harder to fork its network

True. But then again. Is this how we want to see the future of the Web3? How is that different from big Web2 corporations creating their own protocols and building monopolies?
