they won years ago by risking capital on contrarian bets. happy for them. need new founder-product-wins now

I'm all for founder product wins. We're aligned on that. 
What needs to happen that's hard to push back on is when these whales (a16z, Base...etc) come with a bag of cash to add them to their roster, they say no and instead opt for traditional, independent growth. Otherwise we're all just going to keep moving in circles and be under the weight of whale's indefinitely.
