I’m starting university the 6th of September and I already had bad vibes from my teacher lol.

She sent a mail with all our emails in the list (instead of a hidden CC). In this mail, she told us we were expected to attend the introductory sessions to teach us how the campus work, etc…

She couldn’t help but say that those who wouldn’t attend would be immediately “terminated”. Not one day in and I’m already living through the high school dogmatic, authoritarian shit lmao.

I feel your pain.

How did you commit to dropping out? Like… I have skills, I’m convinced I can bring something to a development team but I don’t really know where to start lol

After convincing my parents to drop out of my computer science degree, I built up a small portfolio of projects by teaming up with people during online hackathons like @ethglobal, @ethdenver and @gitcoin. Got a really good feel what it’s like to work remotely with a designer and two backend devs for several weeks in a row. I found that the events also served as great time-boxed scenarios for testing different frontend tools and quickly discovering what stack I would/wouldn’t be comfortable executing with in a real job.

A few months later I applied to and got hired at /dydx as their youngest-ever team member (21). I remember telling @evwho in an interview that I had just come from a hackathon judging session earlier that day. The founder Antonio noted my hackathon projects were a “pretty strong signal.”

which is a working reimplementation of a Farcaster hub with plugins, and no sync process! I was excited to release it but the day I wanna do it, I see NeyNar’s releasing Indexer-As-A-Service which is exactly the goal of my tool…

But I’m still getting better & better and I can help people now, so I wrote my first guides recently :D

« Without sync » — under the hood, Hubble uses libp2p which is (simplified) a DHT with protobufs over TCP. You can code the handshake process and intercept message on the network and do stuff with them.

The actual sync happens through a gRPC endpoint which I haven’t implemented because it’s not relevant. 

The project works pretty well but as a solo dev, it’s very hard to support especially without any interest from the community. Farcaster is moving fast and there’s like 15 different messages to implement.

But if people are interested in this, I can always work on it again. The codebase is beautiful and I didn’t write spaghetti code.

The only problem is that I should make an explainer for contributors to understand how Farcaster work under the hood (decentralization wise).

Explaining well is the key to contributor engagement.

How come I didn’t know this exists? Not a go dev so unable to write plugins without AI but I love seeing these projects

This week at /wildcardclub we shipped
- Moxie earned on casts upfront (more moxie integrations wip)
- Native translations are back, (also doing spanish and Indonesian along with Koran, Russian, Chinese & Japanese)
-  Migrated tips accounting infrastructure to Golang from python. Faster response times, and more stability.
- Lot of work on the Native app. Coming soon.
