Justin Drake of the Ethereum Foundation said in an AMA that unless ETH actually becomes the programmable currency of the Internet, Ethereum cannot become the settlement layer of the value Internet. In addition, he believes that global lottery will become a readily available application on Ethereum based on verifiable randomness, with a commission close to free (the government usually takes 50%).
