most importantly, will timebox myself

if i can't hit $5k MRR by the end of May, then I have to suck it up and go get a job

so it's up to me to do whatever it takes if I want to continue TOC as my full time thing

My opinion is: 
A timeline is essential for discipline. But if you only use it to decide whether to quit or continue, you may be playing an unnecessary “all or nothing” game. 

What if we try to adjust the focus – like “If I don’t hit $5k MRR, I’ll reevaluate the model, find a partner or sponsor, or go part-time instead of full-time”?
