The level of frustration you experience when trying to accept and adapt to a new UI positively correlates with how big of a role the product plays in your life (not just the frequency of use). It doesn’t matter that much if the new UI is objectively better – you’ll suffer during the first few days (weeks?) regardless, and I actually think it’s beautiful.

Don't you think that is a level of discovery in play? Sometimes, this challenges power users to re-discover the product, like your habitual restaurant making an interior design change.
