I have a bad habit of playing games on high difficulty. Aside from the usual challenges like “burning out” from not understanding some mechanics, I've noticed another, rather significant aspect. Namely, it’s how the main character is perceived on “high difficulty” or “hardcore.” This seems true in various games—in almost all where there's a clearly defined hero. The issue is simple: on high difficulty, you often stop feeling like you're controlling a truly powerful hero.
