We call any currency an altcoin except Bitcoin.
 Meme coin's are definitely among altcoins, but the good ones like Doge, Pepe, Shiba.  Those meme coins on Solana are 90% shitcoins and scams.

Do you consider memes an alt, or a separate category alltogether?

Idk if we will ever have another alt season like in past cycles where every single coin goes up. There are so many tokens launching every day, there are so many more then we had back then. There's just not enough money to go around for everything to pump. Quality projects will do well as will shiny new objects.
