Culture happens where there’s a high velocity of people interacting with each other That’s not ETH mainnet today. Most of the onchain experimentation and creativity has moved elsewhere.

so folks who are literally wearing eth mainnet assets as their onchain pfp/identity as they interact and add value on L2s and other networks are leaking L1 cultural value from those assets as a result? trying to follow what you and six are trying to say, but something isn't clicking

they’re mostly relics rather than something with an active and influential culture It’s like repping the city you’re from or college you went to but without any plans to actively contribute more to that place The culture is stagnant and losing people due to fragmentation

Super interesting perspective actually. There is a type of distance between the layers and chains for sure To me the portability factor of these assets always made them feel equally close at hand though Like the chains and layers and everything on them are literal clicks away from one another Also fwiw I don’t own a punk anymore but I do own several other prized works by modern masters and I wouldn’t want them anywhere other than ETH L1. Unique L1 value prop

yeah I still think mainnet is where many existing crypto user/collectors would want premier NFTs to exist and live Not sure that will always be the case for newer users Maybe this cultural fragmentation isn’t necessarily a bad thing and it could just be a natural evolution of decentralization time will tell
