Anonymous is an international group of hackers and activists known for their cyber attacks on government, religious and corporate websites. The group began in the mid-2000s on the 4chan forums. 
In 2008, Anonymous gained attention with Operation Chanology against the Church of Scientology. The group has no centralized leadership and consists of members who anonymously coordinate their actions. They support freedom of speech, internet freedom and fight against censorship and corruption. However not long ago the group broke up due to repeated incidents of betrayal.
