there is imo little functional difference between wash-trading NFTs and the very rampant phenomenon of selling an item on Amazon/Etsy/ebay etc and drop-shipping it from AliExpress other than the fact that the market for NFTs is far more transparent

I disagree for two reasons: 1. What you’re really describing is arbitrage and solving for market inefficiencies (in this case, lack of funds to buy in bulk or lack of awareness/trust in other platforms). 2. Wash trading seeks to make other items more valuable, not that item.

this is very good pushback, was more making an observation that if drop-shipping was as easily trackable as wash trading, people would be just as (if not more) up in arms about it
