Piercing the Bay

A view overlooking the Kotor Bay at dusk…

This is a rare view of Kotor Bay from a village in the mountains high above. Kotor Bay is covered with mountains and the light refraction causes captivating red skies at sunset. 

It is often photographed from the Kotor Castle which is located on the right side of this photo, I wanted a unique and more symmetrical view that covers the bay and the city. 

After having done some research with the locals, and visiting several spots for a few days, I decided to pick this one. I set off towards the village in the highlands before the sunset. As always I set my tripod and filters ready, took a few shots and started to wait for the correct moment to click. Meanwhile had a lovely chat with the tourists that arrived to watch the sunset. 

As the lights started turn on and the sky turned into a magical red, I saw a boat sailing into the bay making a perfect triangular symmetry, giving me the exact shot I was waiting for. 

Listed and collected in 2022.
