i find mini apps (warpcast included) too modal and inappropriate in a feed or dm app. but i am wrong and having a swipeable fullscreen viewport will unlock much new surface area. i just wanted to stay in the feed.

do you prefer bottom sheet (e.g. Paragraph) or full screen (e.g. Trivia)?

i rarely interact with either so far. Trivia is the industry trend. my beef is i don’t like forced modality. it is the enemy of multitasking. the way both of these apps lose state (i think?) when you switch away within warpcast infringes on my ability to take knowledge from search or my profile or feed into the app experience and vice versa. minimization UI like tg is so cludgey and screen real estate consuming, and unnatural in the app there’s a famous apple engineer piece on this iirc from the 80s. saw this, unrelated, when searching https://developer.apple.com/design/human-interface-guidelines/modality but wechat etc show that my opinion doesn’t matter and painful designs can be popular and engaging (hello iphone induced RSI!)

i think if i was in warpcast’s shoes i would engage a china app specialist consultant to take 4 hours and walk me through the design patterns of the biggest and cleverest chinese miniapp platforms — maybe y’all have done already. in the end as i allude to above my ui tastes may simply be passé and overly western, and there is likely alpha in the east that can solve my concerns and introduce new patterns i’ve never seen.
