in academia theres a trope of a scholar who gets stuck in research mode they chase ideas & a dialectic process down an endless rabbit hole of citations, texts, hours reading, taking notes they never publish. the people who publish get the good jobs, and the acclaim, and often make the biggest impacts on their fields. it is what it is

i followed the text of the second cast standalone of the subject of the first but i also resonate with the foibles of overthinking and calling it research. “you never have to be right if you’re never defeated“ is another way of saying just do it. an antidote to perfectionists paralysis.
