Split between the USA and Canada, this place is home to 1,864 islands most of them private. I visited these islands on a cruise, and some of these islands were so tiny that they left me wondering if they would even constitute an island. The folks at the 1000 Islands International Tourism Council provide a handy definition:“To be considered an island, it has to stay above water 365 days a year and support a living tree.”
