It's sad that Web3 gamers have to choose between convenience (using a hot wallet) and security (using a hardware wallet). Are there any good ways to fix this?

100% agree. I strongly believe you can make a product both secure and convenient. I don’t trust apps that sacrifice security and decentralization on the pretext of more user-friendly experience. You can be both onchain and user-friendly.
