Apologies for the dumb questions, got pulled into this by @pushix, and given my pathological curiosity, I had to try. Is this a decentralized Twitter clone or is there more to it?

Pretty much. It's meant to be twitter-as-a-protocol. The protocol (farcaster) is permissionless, anyone can run hubs and build applications against it. The app (Warpcast) is the first client that the company that created the protocol is building, but others already exist (https://jam.so/, https://www.discove.xyz/).

It’s every builders favorite playground bc you can permissionlessly build clients on the FC web3 social graph

Sorta. It’s more useful to think of it as the seed from which to germinate the protocol. Warpcast is a Twitter layer on top of a social protocol that others can/are building on in very different ways.
