if ENS is supposed to be the “hub” of your identity, why does every web3 social platform have their own namespace?

because it’s the most valuable piece of digital real estate. If I’m a platform, why would I co-opt someone else’s namespace if I can create a value system native to my own platform to make you keep coming back?

imo in the end it doesn’t matter ideologically what “web3 is about” I’m gonna use whatever platform is the best experience. There’s tons of social apps out there that use ENS, but I use FC because the product is better than all of them product > interoperability every time

I think the onboarding experience for non-web3 users would be significantly worse if it required ENS, but better for users who are already in the ecosystem. I can see that tradeoff 100% making sense for Farcaster right now, at least.
