A tip and a government tariff are similar -both are additional payments on top of a base cost. A tip is an extra amount given voluntarily to service workers, while a tariff is a mandatory tax imposed by a government on imported goods. In both cases, the idea is to provide additional compensation: a tip rewards the service provider, while a tariff helps protect domestic industries or generate government revenue.
