F-1 Trillion is triumph. Post Malone always had range, but I'm shook, y'all. Country music is like sushi. Simple ingredients, but an *incredibly* high skill ceiling. That's why lower tier songs in the genre sound so similar and why the greats are so universally recognized as the masters they are. To me, the true soul of country music is a state of yearning, but never… quite... being the person you wish you were and Post just fuckin nails it. It’s so clear he loves the genre, understands all the tropes, and has a great intuition about when to subvert them. More importantly, he understands when to just *enjoy* the rules of the game. On its own, that expression of taste + musical experience is impressive, but when you consider that the album is basically a survey of all the era's of modern-ish popular country music (Outlaw, Honky Tonk, Western, Bro-Country, Country Pop, Bluegrass, etc) it's clear that he studied the shit out of his country music history...

Pretty good. I’m not a country music fan for many of the reasons you state but I can appreciate originality. Malone looks like the 0.1% of germs that Lysol can’t kill but dude is talented.

yea it's a fair criticism of the genre imo and tbh i'm glad he seems to have evolved past his inherently problematic initial success w "White Iverson" + early career behavior (lot of redemption/seeking forgiveness notes in the album) you're obv much closer to those issues than me tho. do you have any thoughts?
