Why are regulators technophobic? My read as an outsider is they are simultaneously too lazy to do proper regulation (or unwilling to allocate resources there) while trying to increase the ambit of their rule making As such itβs not tech per se just change which is accelerated by tech exposing this

In defense of regulators they are generally understaffed, underresourced, and underskilled for creating optimal solutions to the things under their ambit.

There are also very real conversations to be had regarding what "optimal" even means in most of these tech regulation scenarios.
