I have a feeling that this is going to be my new favorite channel. Have been thinking about getting an FPV drone for a while but I don’t like that most only allow you to fly for 5-10 minutes at best. Any suggestions for someone looking to get started? https://youtu.be/HQ--bq2mq24

I’ve always thought 5-6 minutes felt like a long time when flying - it’s quite an intense activity. Long range drones can go further if you want to use a bigger, slower pack.

I guess you can also extend flight time by swapping batteries. Right now I’m mainly trying to decide if I should go with DJI Avata or another FPV quad as my first.

Just took a look at the DJI Avata. Seems like it takes a lot of pain away. FPV purists will hate it, but honestly FPV is incredibly hard, so making a first entry point smoother isn’t a bad thing. I spent months building, tuning betaflight and 25+ hours in a sim just to get a first stable hover. This seems easier.

That’s exactly what I was thinking. Make it a bit more fun and easy to start with. But I do want to learn all about this stuff so there’s no running away from it. I got the DRL sim a while back but haven’t had a chance to play since I want to learn with a proper transmitter which I still need to get.
