It is important not to pollute forests for several reasons. First, forests play a key role in maintaining ecosystem balance: they purify the air from pollutants, regulate the water balance and serve as a home for many species of animals and plants. Secondly, pollution of forests can lead to deterioration of their health, decrease their ability to absorb carbon and increase greenhouse gas emissions, which exacerbates the problems of climate change.
