Anyone have experience with Day One → Obsidian converters? There seem to be three that are active-ish; anyone have experiences/opinions of any of them? - https://github.com/LucyDYu/dayone-to-obsidian - https://github.com/edoardob90/dayone-to-obsidian - https://github.com/0dB/dayone-json-to-obsidian

I am curious to find out what works for you! See also https://github.com/obsidianmd/obsidian-importer/issues/55 https://help.obsidian.md/import

Figured I'd update this thread for posterity. I actually *just* finished migrating my journal to Obsidian this morning. My experience with all of the existing conversion scripts was poor; none handle even modestly complex formatting well, nor are they good at capturing the metadata associated with Day One entries.

In the end, I used a combination of a couple of different scripts with a lot of regular expression search-and-replace in VS Code and even more manual elbow grease.

I've created a demo Day One export and corresponding Obsidian vault in an attempt to capture "gold standard" format conversion + as much Day One metadata as I can (there may be more, but I think I've got most of it). https://github.com/obsidianmd/obsidian-importer/issues/55#issuecomment-1879802417

Neat! Have you considered creating an importer? There is now quite a lot of prior art in the repo that you could reference.

Maybe. Right now I’ve been focused on trying to get projects *off* of my plate, so it’s not something I’d get to soon.
