When I was in my early teens I used to play tons of roblox. It boils down to: it was free, had decent custom servers and ran well on my shitty laptop When you are ~13 with no income, you have to make do, hence roblox. I never got into the multiplayer scene bc I had to torrent everything and thus skipped most games.
