Which is easier to maintain, cheaper, and more stable: deploying a continuously running service on a self-hosted server or launching an on-demand service in the cloud?

Yes, Vercel is great, and I’m also hosting my frontend projects using Next.js on it. However, I’m using a self-hosted Kubernetes to deploy other backend services because similar SaaS/PaaS like Heroku is too expensive.

Yes, I have tried this before, and I have also tried https://railway.app. They do provide all the components I need, but the price is much higher than managing a self-hosted Kubernetes cluster.
