The Painted Smile
In the flickering glow of a neon streetlight, she watched her reflection in a cracked mirror, tilting her head ever so slightly. The blue shadows around her eyes made them colder, almost inhuman. The red paint stretched from her lips like a cruel, knowing grin, a mask of madness and mischief. But behind itโoh, behind itโwas something much darker.
No one knew her real name anymore. To the city, she was simply Luna the Laughing Ghost, a whisper in alleyways, a legend that kept even the most ruthless criminals looking over their shoulders. They said she only smiled when she was about to strike.
She adjusted the tattered lace at her shoulder, the blood-red fabric dancing like embers in the wind. Tonight was the night. Tonight, she would finish what she started. The man who had ruined her lifeโthe one who left her for deadโwas finally within reach.
