I think worrying about the quality actually keeps me from creating anything at all for long periods.

This is the biggest reason people aren’t productive in any field. It’s my problem too. Not necessarily aiming for perfection itself, but more like when churning out work just not getting anywhere fast or feeling stuck or uninspired by what i churn out. Gotta keep churning until the good stuff, but could be ages

Yes you sometimes just need to push through till you get to the good stuff and a flow state . I also stop to judge each thing I create when I could just keep creating regardless and review things as I go.

So true. Sometimes its hard to just keep pushing when nothing comes. I like to remember this quote by Lancelot Ribeiro

"I twist and turn, curve and straighten often without aim or result. Just an escape, an escapist thing into painting impulsively, compulsively, endlessly, tired, tirelessly, with or without joy."
