I think there's an important distinction to be made between psychedelics and this ayahausca-maximalism. I'm pro psychedelics, anti-ayahuasca. We went too far towards treating psychedelics as this pure boon when there are some very serious risks from using them casually.

Oh totally, I think in extreme mental health situations or when you are literally trying to become a shaman it has a useful place. But this idea that everyone should be running off to Mexico or Peru and seeing what happens is *insane*

Agree that *everyone* shouldn't be doing it But there's a huge spectrum between that and extreme mental health / becoming shaman. You don't think it's appropriate for certain other types of people within the spectrum? I don't have a strong opinion but I'm v curious about the arguments from both angles
