Teslaās 4680 Battery Tech Under Fire from CATL š
Robin Zeng, founder of CATL, the worldās largest EV battery maker, has openly criticized Teslaās 4680 battery cells, predicting they will fail and never succeed. During Elon Muskās visit to China, Zeng said they discussed the topic, but Musk couldnāt convincingly justify the new technology.
Tesla champions the 4680 cells as game-changing, with over 100 million produced. However, CATL continues to prioritize lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, known for being more reliable and cost-effective, even with a shorter range.
Zeng also highlighted Muskās optimistic predictions, particularly on self-driving, saying itās part of his motivational strategy.
