I haven't been following the AI space very closely, especially outside of OpenAI stuff. How far behind are open source alternatives? 

I've heard about stuff like llama2 supposedly being decent for chat but I'm assuming the agents/function calling and whatnot is a different story?

OpenAI functions and native multimodal support are going to be big drivers of lock in for many orgs.

Spending time thinking about AI, crypto rails, and defense tech.

Understanding where the lock-in is gonna hit hardest! Yes!! (thx).

The shape of where and how the lock-in vectors are designed is helpful to avoid getting locked in oneself.  Not that consciously choosing to add a dependency is on it's own bad. Unconsciously getting trapped is the problem.
