John Broughton, Gold Coast, Australia, 2022 A prolific former amateur near-Earth asteroid observer and hunter, John Broughton designed and built an automated 0.5m f/2.7 reflector from which most of his observations were derived. He has reported tens of thousands of astrometric observations to the Minor Planet Centre between 1997 and 2008, which included 1,200 solar system discoveries, two of which are comets. Two others are potentially dangerous asteroids
