“Alex Garland no longer plans to direct films after falling out of love with filmmaking.” Translation: The A24 pivot to commercial blockbusters with their hedge fund investor boot on the neck approach has killed my vibe, enjoy “Civil War”

Would love to hear more about this. While definitely not as arthouse as they perhaps once were, in my view A24 is still making the most "against-the-grain" film of anybody from what I can tell. Any reading on the investors would be appreciated.

Ok, I’ll look for a link but A24 literally made an announcement that they are pivoting to more commercial films and a hedge fund bought a huge percent of them at the 2021 overvalued era

Yes did some looking myself afterward. Looks like the hedge fund only owns 10% stake in A24 so perhaps should be on leadership of the company to hold a little firmer. At the end of the day, I don't necessarily blame them, as IP is the only other way to make money off of film.

No blame, it’s the game. But a shame. Oh I’m a poet and didn’t know it

Lol that just took me back to elementary school -- had a teacher that used that line. Anyway, my brother and I are looking to change "the game" (great movie btw) soon by bringing film on-chain. Thanks for teaching me something new.
