I feel your looks are related to your self esteem. People can indirectly see your confidence regardless of your looks. Eg. You can have perfect skin, but look like a witch with 10kg of skin paste cause your confidence is 0. Or you can have a relatively unorthodox nose but look gorgeous cause you act naturally.

it is nicer to tell a friend to act naturally and gain confidence in non-consumerist ways, more than telling them to adhere to some version of cosmetic beauty
