We are indeed currently in the process of large changes to EF leadership structure, which has been ongoing for close to a year. Some of this has already been executed on and made public, and some is still in progress. What we're trying to achieve is primarily the following goals: * Improve level of technical expertise within EF leadership * Improve two-way communications and ties between EF leadership and the ecosystem actors, old and new, that it is our role to support: users (individual and institutional), app devs, wallets, L2s * Bring in fresh talent, improve execution ability and speed * Become more actively supportive of app builders, and make sure important values and inalienable rights (esp privacy, open source, censorship resistance) are a reality for users including at the app layer * Continue to increase our use of decentralized and privacy tech and the Ethereum chain, including for payments and treasury management ...

One thing that frustrates me about "my culture is better than yours" discourse, is that the game inherently drives people to come up with post-hoc justifications for why their fixed pre-existing thing is better than the other guy's fixed pre-existing thing. This is not a productive enterprise. It's completely missing the part where if you realize that some aspect your pre-existing thing sucks, you can actually go and change it and make it better. Compete by offering a better product, not by offering a better justification for a product you were randomly assigned by birth lottery. One of the things that attracted me about network states, is that productive cultural competition that leads to innovation in new and better cultures could actually happen there, and in environments "holistic" enough to capture all aspects of culture that are necessary to run a functioning civilization (as opposed to narrow environments, eg. cryptocurrencies and games) I hope we can take that open-minded approach more.

The main challenge with crypto regulation (esp in the US) has always been this phenomenon where if you do something useless, or something where you're asking people to give you money in exchange for vague references to potential returns at best, you are free and clear, but if you try to give your customers a clear story of where returns come from, and promises about what rights they have, then you're screwed because you're "a security". The incentive gradient that this "anarcho-tyranny" creates ends up worse for the space than either plain anarchy _or_ plain tyranny. I would much rather see us move to the opposite situation, where issuing a token _without_ giving a clear long-term story for why it will maintain or increase in economic value is the riskier thing, and if you _do_ give such a long-term story and follow basic best practices then you're safe. Actually getting to this will require good-faith engagement, both from regulators and from industry.
