This is definitely the result of a culture clash that generative AI has stirred up.

TBH, I'm sympathetic to the artists who had their work used as training data without consent, because artists can be *very* protective of their work.

But... I'm not one of them, since I release all my work as CC-BY or CC0, haha.

Relatedly, I think most of the fiercely protective artists—and even those who use Creative Commons licensing—would be very unhappy to learn of the stance that Creative Commons has officially taken on generative AI.
