It’s not just a social media site/app, it’s a protocol—a decentralized, open-source, permissionless protocol. So anyone can build a client with their own bells, whistles, features, algos, etc. (e.g., a Farcaster just released a video-based client!) Plus your account belongs to you, and you can take it with you.

e.g., your Twitter account doesn’t belong to you. Twitter grants you a license to use an account, which they can choose to revoke at any time for any reason.
