It’s great that Austin is this growing city but it’s basically just turning into a massive sprawl like LA without the beaches.

Austin was great when it was the only liberal and cultural oasis in TX, back when that meant something. When it was a Texas-sized college town. SXSW created a reality distortion field for tourists looking for the Good Life and since then they’ve been trying to graft a tech hub on top of a place that was never suited.

Pretty spot on. I only spent about six months there and I havent been in the 10 years, but this described it then and I can only imagine how far its slid in that direction since.
