The Blizzard of 78, in Boston. 27 inches in a day and a half. The second most severe blizzard in the region, after 2015. But far worse in terms of preparation. The storm shut down the city entirely for a full week. People couldn't get out their front doors, let alone get anywhere. Boston learned from this and starts salting and plowing early ever since.

Lmao man you have no idea though. The city was literally shut down for a week. Driving was disallowed. All stores were closed. People shoveled but there's bigger problems than shoveling sidewalks. It was a city preparedness issue. In 2015 we got more snow and I was doing pizza delivery on a bicycle the whole time

didn't the snow last longer though in '78? wasn't it colder for longer? also, any time you remove snow with a big pitched blade on a dozer or something, you're going to fuck up the roads. roads in 78 probably were destroyed. also, awd wasn't even a thing back then so I can't imagine driving in that.
