prior to even the recent mass exodus from telegram, i’ve been working on [and driving myself into a rabbit hole 🕳️ —>] a suite of e2ee communication(s) and transfer(s) tools and protocols. i’d moved to hosting my own [matrix] homeserver months ago, but am wondering what people are gravitating towards (for comms specifically)? now into the … this is of course a wildly broad and ever chased cyclical discussion in what seems to see no end as platforms which find mass adoption continue to fall susceptible to “going back on looking out for you” when it comes to privacy - however, i think at the end of the day it’s the ownership of one’s own data, communication(s), and overall existence online that i know myself personally finds to be most attractive. an incredibly well execution of what i feel to be my own “safe space” is of course umbrel [https://umbrel.com] who i feel are quietly playing a small but important role in making this broader concept decently accessible to a broader space.
