In 1973, Nigeria introduced the Naira as its official currency, replacing the Pound Sterling. Exchange Rate Fluctuations (1990s-2000s) In the 1990s, Nigeria's economy faced significant challenges, including inflation, corruption, and political instability. As a result, the Naira's value against the US Dollar fluctuated wildly.
