Story time: You might have heard of Dwarf Fortress if you're in the indie gaming trenches, but have you heard of Simon Swerwer? Simon is an acoustic guitarist and vocalist from South Africa who produced several *incredible* independent soundtracks for the game in 2012. https://soundcloud.com/simonswerwer (hit play while reading) We had a DM going in 2013 when I tried to "plz take my money!" He was looking to emigrate and maybe settle in Canada. I was hopeful we'd become neighbours, but he ended up finding home in Barcelona. His music was used in third-party mods (Soundsense), but otherwise unknown... until last year, when DF's composer Dabu worked with Simon on the latest Steam Edition of Dwarf Fortress, becoming the canon vibe of the game! 🤤 Available on all your fav music streaming, even vinyl! https://www.fangamer.com/products/dwarf-fortress-dwarf-fortress-vinyl-soundtrack Simon is not on Farcaster (yet) but I'll send this thread to him. This is great - thanks for telling the story. Lots of crossover happening between game world and general listening - creates opportunities for artists like Simon :-)
