let’s say i have no kids, no partner, no employer, no pets, and ultimately no real responsibilities tying me to anyone or anything or any place.

my future is, in theory, wide open.

I can highly recommend selling everything, (leasing your apartment if you have one) - moving to a different country and joining a rock band.  Did wonders for my psyche.
