Todays /success topic of the day: What’s one outdated practice or belief that you think needs to be challenged or discarded? I think we need to change the practice of saying “the customer is always right.” This can lead to toxic client relationships and to unreasonable expectations. It’s ok to say NO. What do you think?

The culture of using cash in Japan. Japan has advanced anti-counterfeiting technology for bills, so cash is highly trusted. Even now, there are still many stores that only accept cash. When I tell people from abroad about this, they’re always surprised. While it’s important technology, it feels outdated.

Everyone is surprised. There are even people in Japan who never use credit cards.

I’m the same way. It’s convenient to see the statements online, but many people don’t use them. Stores also prefer cash.
