it is THESIS THURSDAY.

we did this last spring, we will resume it again now, cuz why not. it is pretty simple, you post a long and/or short thesis on something that is *not* a financial asset (regardless of liquidity, so you also can't like, long a startup for example). so it should be like, a trend or concept or something. ideally you add some reasoning to your thesis and it is sufficiently contrarian that there is still "upside".

Longing what I call "intentional friction"

As technology increasingly optimizes for convenience... i almost find myself resenting instant gratification. The more my life becomes frictionless and algo-driven, the more I actually crave purposeful effort. 

Feels as tho I'm not alone and there's a countertrend forming - the deliberate embrace of "intentional friction"...this rejection of algorithmic efficiency in favor of experiences and recommendations that require effort, patience and human-to-human coordination. 

+ disposable cameras / digi cam > phone cameras
+ dumb phones > smart phones
+ curated recs (letterboxd, goodreads, etc.) > AI suggestions
+ vinyl > streaming 
+ "slow living" philosophies and digital detoxes

i actually think blockchain plays a role here too. Minting something - with a small cost - can become that point of friction

agree here.  I think this is part of whats missing from creativity onchain.  We need more cozy corners, less social feeds
