Topic: The Search for Dark Matter

Dark matter makes up about 85% of the universe’s total mass, yet we can’t see or directly detect it. It doesn’t emit light or energy, making it "dark." However, scientists know it exists because its gravitational effects are visible—without dark matter, galaxies would spin apart, and the universe’s structure wouldn’t make sense

Current research focuses on detecting dark matter particles through experiments using highly sensitive detectors placed deep underground (to avoid interference from cosmic rays). These experiments include the XENON1T detector, which looks for signs of dark matter interacting with normal matter.

Despite no direct detection so far, scientists remain hopeful that they’ll soon uncover the true nature of dark matter, solving one of the biggest mysteries of modern physics!
