My late grandpa was a concert violinist who loved Beethoven and many of the Romantics, but HATED Brahms. It's always been one of the great mysteries of my life and rather than ask anyone why, I keep listening to Brahms to try to figure it out

yeah there’s a good chance it simply comes down to inherent boringness lol

my working theory is that he was just really into symphonies, bc i love the Brahms violin concerto

based off of nothing i also love beethoven and brahms bores me hehehe i think brahms is maybe sentimental where beethoven is passionate from my viewpoint
