69 Years Ago Today, the Web's Creator, Tim Berners-Lee, Was Born ā¢ Tim Berners-Lee was born in London on June 8, 1955. On August 23, 1991, at CERN in Switzerland, Tim Berners-Lee made the Web publicly accessible for the first time. He created the Hypertext Transfer Protocol, or HTTP, in 1990.
