A new Bitcoin mining report from Cambridge University says that sustainable energy use by the industry has reached 52.4% — up from 37.6% in 2022. The figure exceeds Elon Musk’s stated threshold of 50% for Tesla to resume allowing bitcoin payment options, though the electric vehicle manufacturer is yet to do so.
